New governance research focuses mainly on issues such as the fragmentation of power between governmental and supranational levels, encouraging decentralization of government, and reliance on new forms of citizen consultation and participation. This issue has been raised in different eras, but what is important is to pay attention to the differences that exist between different governance models.The present study focuses on the relationship between two well-known models of governance in today's world, namely the "Islamic Governance" model and the "Good Governance" model. In this regard, the designed model of governance in the Islamic Republic of Iran is considered as an example of the model of Islamic Governance and aims to use qualitative content analysis to enumerate themes and analyze the core principles of each of these two models To examine the differences between these two models at the level of their theoretical foundations.The results show that the model of Islamic Governance in the Islamic Republic of Iran can be described with themes such as "God's sovereignty", "Belief in revelation", "Shari'a", "Islamic ethics". But the model of Good Governance considers themes such as "rule of law", "responsibility of individuals", "transparency", "efficiency" and "accountability" as the basic principles of governance. A comparison of these two models reveals the differences and sometimes contradictions between the two. As Islamic rule is towards the material and spiritual progress and excellence of man in the realm of God, but Good Governance has based its goal-setting on the indicators of development in modern literature.
